Thanks Christine for finding it! http://www.newstroll.de/app/lt/?l=1y7b

  • Let me just pass this on to you as well... :-))))

    Howdy Folks
Well, as luck would have it, I've been healthy enough to get out a new CD. This is one that I was working on before I got sick and since returning from Houston, I was able to get it completed. This is a wonderful Celtic guitar CD accompanied by my good friends Byron House (bass), Jeff Taylor (accordion, concertina), Gary Tussing (cello). Please check it out at www.PeteHuttlinger.com
There is also another CD I am so proud to tell you all about. Some of my friends and some of my heroes put together a CD called For Pete's Sake to help me out with my medical bills. This is a wonderful gift that was put together by Trashton Porter who I have not even met yet but I certainly look forward to meeting him soon. It's a great disc (or download). It's got tracks by Don Ross, Muriel Anderson, Carl Verheyen, Don Alder, Iker Cedeno, Phil Keaggy, Trashton Porter, Michael Chapdelaine, Sungha Jung and many others! This is truly a great CD compilation. Check it out at iTunes. Just search for Trashton Porter or FOR PETE'S SAKE.
Here's wishing you all a very, Merry Christmas. You can be sure that I'm going to have the best Christmas I've ever had this year. I'm alive and loving every minute of it!
    Cheers,
    Pete

  •  I just found this message in my mailbox:

    Howdy all;
I just wanted to drop a line to some special folks in my life and let you know that I'm gigging again.
This December 16th, I'm playing a concert at St. Bartholomew's Church right here in Nashville, TN. I'll be playing with Jim & Inge Wood and I'll slip in several solo numbers while they aren't looking! ;-)
Please check out the flier (1.4 mb pdf) for more info on the gig. I hope some of you can make it and if not, I hope I will see you very soon.
    Cheers,
    Pete

    Way to go, Pete!!!!!!

It was wonderful to have you with us, thank you for the music, the good conversations, the cakes, cookies, just for coming to Sinzig!!
Today is a holiday here, so I have a little time and have uploaded a few first pics to Facebook (more are to follow). The album is set to "public", so everybody should be able to see it, even if you don't have a Facebook account.

  •  After we (Gabi and I) came back from our trip to Aspen safe and sound, here's info about the presale for the John Adams concert in Red Rocks next year on July 12, 2012.
    http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/1E00474CD5CF3BF6?did=bluetulip
Actually, you should have had this for a while already, but passing on the link from Aspen unfortunately didn't work the way I planned and hoped for...
Many of you know John Adams, and the Red Rocks Theater is a very special venue close to Denver.
Everybody who has a chance to go to the concert, should CERTAINLY do this!!!! :-)))
    ·
  • There's a nice article about John in the Aspen Times today!
    http://www.newstroll.de/app/lt/?l=1vcz.x3kh

  • It took me a loooong time to finally get this prepared, and I certainly have to apologize to Judy, who sent the report "ages ago", but now I have finally gotten to insert some of her pictures and turn it into a pdf file, so everybody will be able to read it.
You can find the report here: http://johndenverclub.org/concert.pdf
At the very bottom of the report, you find a link to all of Judy's pictures on our website.
In case you are having problems opening the file, answer to this mail and I will see what I can do to help you.
A heartfelt "THANK YOU" goes to Judy in California!!!!!!

  • A quick note, copied from the club's Facebook pinnwall --
Seems like the 25 CDs set "The Complete RCA Albums Collection" will be available in Germany from October 14, 2011. Amazon lists it for EUR 81, while jpc has a price of EUR 65.
Thanks, Jochen for passing this on!

  • Virginia Allen, a long time friend and our "American correspondent" for the newsletter, has published volume 1 of her book about John, "What One Man Can Do - The Legacy of John Denver".
Volumes 2 and 3 are to follow later.

Please note that this is a link for US citizens, in case you are in a different country, you may habe to find the link for your country.
In Germany, this was easy, there was a note on the righthand site of the page, telling to "click here". I ended up here - so this is the link for Germany:

  • I just found this note in my mailbox:

    Howdy Folks;
Okay as I'm healing from my recent heart surgery and I await the next one, I'm planning on doing another DVD or two. So first up is Dan Fogelberg #2 so what songs would you like to learn.
    Cheers,
    Pete

    Children are welcome also.

    When does it start??
Well, the "official" part starts, as always, Saturday around noon after lunch. It would be nice, if you all would have arrived by then.

    When does it end?
Well, that's up to you! The Freiweg Heim is rented until Sunday evening.
And that you can make plans, Sinzig is on the river Rhine, about 25 km south of Bonn and is already used to the rush of the Denver fans in fall.

    With warm regards
    Gabi und Jessy
    Your Weekend organisation team

I have to say it now
It’s been a good life all in all
It’s really fine to have the chance to hang around
And lie there by the fire
    And watch the evening tire
While all my friends and my old lady
Sit and watch the sun go down
  • Georg mentioned this offer to us:  http://de.popmarket.com/ which contains a collection of John Denver albums released between 1969 and 1986, including Denver’s rare privately pressed 1966 LP, John Denver Sings. Maybe you want to have a look on this, it is only available throughout the weekend.
  • JP's petition, aiming at naming a mountain close to Aspen after John, is causing quite a stir.

Yesterday, the Aspen Times published a really wonderful letter to the editor re this subject, which I would like to share with you:
    http://www.aspentimes.com/article/20110818/LETTER/110819861

Besides this, I would also like to pass on some great news to those who are interested: Pete Huttlinger is on his way home to Nashville!!
  • I just came across this nice article about John:
    http://www.aspendailynews.com/section/columnist/148410
  • I'm sorry to pass these links on a little late - Roger sent them earlier this month, but I somehow manage to overlook his mail -- sorry....
Anyway - those come from Australia!

Anybody out there who can tell us about the show first hand?
  • Just yesterday, I saw that the audiobook of John's autobiography, "Take me Home" (read by himself) is now being offered as download on his official website. It costs 15 Dollar and you can find it here: http://johndenver.com/news/john-denver-autobiography-take-me-home-available-as-a-digital-audio-book/
  • Efforts are taken in Colorado to name one of the peaks of Mt. Sopris (this is the mountain you can see from the Windstar Land) "John Denver Peak. More about this, and about how you can sign to support the petition - here: http://www.aspentimes.com/article/20110711/NEWS/110719991/1001&parentprofile=1 JP McDaniel, who initiated the whole this, was, by the way, our press coordinator at the 1995 Windstar Symposium and has been a dear friend since then....
  • Wellll, it went faster then than I feared --- I have just opened the new version of our website.... :-) The address has not changed --- http://www.johndenverclub.org --- but in case you bookmaked direct liks, those will not work any longer. But everything is still there, and you should be able to find it again easily - we even have a search engine now! In case you feel like it, you are very welcome to browse through it - and in case something does NOT work, please let me know so I can "repair" it. Oh, yes, in case you wish to, you can switch the language with the little flags in the header...
  • Our website will get a completely new outfit some time next week, and it may be that I'll have to close it down completely for a short period of time. You will only see an information page during that time. I will inform you when the relaunch is finished and everything is up and running again.
  • Veronika has been very active again and found a link where you can watch a very old advertisement using John's music.
    Click here: http://www.homemoviedepot.com/share/index.php?key=e1343b8e06325fa
  • Tickets for the Wheeler shows this October all go on sale next Wednesday, June 1st.
There are three concerts scheduled -
the "14th Annual Musical Tribute to John Denver at the Wheeler" on Oct. 14 and 15
ALL profits from those will be donated to Pete Huttlinger to help defray some of the enormous medical expenses he and his wife Erin are facing. Prices are $45/$75/VIP id="mce_marker"25.
and "John Adams - Rocky Mountain High - A John Denver Tribute" on Oct. 16
    Price $35
Tickets for all shows will be available online at http://www.wheeleroperahouse.com
  • I hope it is okay when, on addition to my note a few days ago, once again come back to how we can help Pete to cope with the immense costs for his stay in hospital.
He is in Texas in a special cardiac center, waiting for a heart transplant. To bridge the time until this happens, they had to implant him a mechanical device to support his own heart.
In the meantime, it is possible to donate something using a Credit Card. Please don't get us wrong, this is not meant to be a demand -- but we know that some of you have been looking for a possibility like this, thus I am passing on this link to you: http://www.petehuttlinger.com/donation.cfm
  • As we have mentioned before, John's guitar player, Pete Huttlinger, is fighting mayor health problems at the moment and is in hospital in a life threatening situation.
This is of course not only a big personal, but also financial challenge for him and his wife Erin.
As many of us have gotten to know Pete over the years not only as an outstanding guitar player, but also as a REALLY nice guy, we would like to pass on a possibility to help him a little bit.
Singer Anita Scheelings has recorded a song with Pete, Chris Nole, Jim Horn and others. She has made it available for download here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/the-moons-harsh-mistress-feat/id436782680
Unfortunately, this link only works for people who have an address in the USA - I have a solution for Germany however - it is available from amazon --- http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00501KZHC/ref=oss_product
This is amazon Germany, it has also been seen on amazon UK, in case you are somewhere else, just try "your" amazon...
Proceeds go to Pete and Erin.
It is a wonderful song, maybe you will also like it enough to download it.
In case you would like to know more about Pete and be updated about how he is doing, you can register here: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/petehuttlinger .

  • Well, we have to send out quite a few newsletters these days...:-)
To start with, once again Hall of Fame -- Kerstin found this link -- "Rocky Mountain High" at the end of the concert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozRJevotx5M
And Veronika was especially busy and successful finding interesting links -- this has nothing to do with the Hall of Fame  --- but it was all new to me:
    http://www.charlierose.com/view/interview/5310      (Tel.-Interview with Milt Okun Okt. 13,1997)

  • Well, it seems to have been a fantastic show there in Denver!!

  • Judy and Karen, who could be there, promised us reports and photos -- here's one of Judy's photos in advance - it shows John Hickenlooper, the governor of Colorado, and John's kids Jesse Belle, Anna Kate and Zachary after accepting the plate which announces John's induction into the Hall of Fame:
    John Denver's children
  • Here's another article about the Hall of Fame, this one even has some pictures... :-)

In case you would like to have a look - http://www.facebook.com/pages/music-and-communication-John-Denver-Fan-Club/192593467442590
  • Here's a first article (from the Denver Post) about the concert on April 21. http://www.denverpost.com/music/ci_17906006?source=rssWhen I find more, I will link to more... :-)

  • In case you have always wanted to have a CD, or an instuctional DVD or anything else from Pete Huttlinger, it is a good time to get it right now.
Until May 15th 2011, he offers a 10% discount on any product.

  • Here's another interesting article about John's induction into the Colorado Hall of Fame:http://www.denverpost.com/music/ci_17849605
If I get it right, there are still tickets available - maybe somebody would like to make a last minute decision??

  • John's guitarist Pete Huttlinger unfortunately had to cancel his participation and all scheduled appearances until further notice due to health reasons - please keep your fingers crossed that he will be able to "go for it" again very soon...

  • Besides the Colorado Hall of Fame, John has also been nominated for the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Hall Of Fame - http://www.skimuseum.net/halloffame/hall_of_fame.php - let's wait what comes out of that...

  • Here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vymwRKKTKoA you can find a very old film with John, and on the site of the Cincinatti Dancing Pigs, there are some "new old" concert recordings http://www.cincinnatidancingpigs.com/concerts.html.

  • As some of you may know, Roger Nichols, who produced several of John's albums, had been fighting against cancer for a while. Unfortunately, he died in early April. Here's one of many articles: http://www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/2011/04/18/135516976/steely-dan-engineer-roger-nichols-dies-at-age-66
  • Last not least, some new pictures from "our" orchard, taken by Gabi on April 19, 2011. The trees have grown a lot again, and they are in full bloom! http://johndenverclub.org/trees2011/
  • There will be a Denver Day in Apeldoorn in the Netherlands next Sunday (April 3) - maybe you would like to go there?

You necessarily should bring high spirits, humour, curiosity, guitars and other musical instruments, voice, songbooks, weatherproof clothes, a little persistence, sleeping bag and air mattress.

Those of you who do not really like the dormitory atmosphere, please get in touch with us, you'll be provided with a hotel list of the surrounding area. (You have to pay hotel costs on your own, please)

When does it start?? Well, the "official" part starts, as always, Saturday around noon after lunch. It would be nice, if you all would have arrived by then.
But as the long distance traveller among you know, we are already in the hall on Friday afternoon and the evenings are always very snuggish.

When does it end? Well, that's up to you! The Freiweg Heim is rented until Sunday evening.

And that you can make plans, Sinzig is on the river Rhine, about 25 km south of Bonn and is already used to the rush of the Denver fans in fall.

    And now???

To give us a chance make plans, and to make sure really nobody has to starve, please register.

    Deadline is October 10th, 2011

    Send registration to:

Gabi Kuss e-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
or Jessy Schmidt e-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

With the registration, please let us know the first names of all who are coming. If you have special needs (f.e. being a vegetarian) we would be really grateful for a hint.

And since without money we can't do the shopping either, your Weekend fee of 35 Euro per person should be on the club's bank account by October 10th 2011, please. Children up to the age of 12 years pay 12,50 Euro.
If anybody wants to join us for only one day, please contact us, that's possible, too.

And as always (never change a running system), the last infos and a roadplan will be coming about 10 days prior to the Weekend.

So, that leaves us with the hope that as many of you as possible feel like and have the time to come at this very weekend and many many registrations arrive here.

We, of course, would love to spend the wonderful cause with YOU!

And if there are questions left, please don't hesitate to ask, we will answer the best way we can.

  • I'm sorry to pass these links on a little late - Roger sent them earlier this month, but I somehow manage to overlook his mail -- sorry....

Anyway - those come from Australia!

Anybody out there who can tell us about the show first hand??

  •  We wish you wonderful holidays and all the best for the New Year!!!!
In case you have an hour or so - here you can watch John's Christmas special "Montana Christmas Skies" --- enjoy! http://www.newstroll.de/app/lt/?l=1y8h

    ·    The official John Denver site has a Christmas concert EP for download -
    check it out!
Thanks Christine for finding it! http://www.newstroll.de/app/lt/?l=1y7b

    ·    Let me just pass this on to you as well... :-))))

    Cheers,
    Pete

    ·    I just found this message in my mailbox:

    Howdy all;
I just wanted to drop a line to some special folks in my life and let you know that I'm gigging again.

    ·    I hope that all participants in the Weekend have arrived back home safe and sound and had some time to sleep in by now... :-)
It was wonderful to have you with us, thank you for the music, the good conversations, the cakes, cookies, just for coming to Sinzig!!
Today is a holiday here, so I have a little time and have uploaded a few first pics to Facebook (more are to follow). The album is set to "public", so everybody should be able to see it, even if you don't have a Facebook account.
    http://www.newstroll.de/app/lt/?l=1vsi
In case you would like to comment or upload your own pictures, however, you will need an account and have to once click "Like" here: http://www.newstroll.de/app/lt/?l=1vsj

    ·    after we (Gabi and I) came back from our trip to Aspen safe and sound, here's info about the presale for the John Adams concert in Red Rocks next year on July 12, 2012.
    http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/1E00474CD5CF3BF6?did=bluetulip
Actually, you should have had this for a while already, but passing on the link from Aspen unfortunately didn't work the way I planned and hoped for...
Many of you know John Adams, and the Red Rocks Theater is a very special venue close to Denver.
Everybody who has a chance to go to the concert, should CERTAINLY do this!!!! :-)))

    ·    There's a nice article about John in the Aspen Times today!
    http://www.newstroll.de/app/lt/?l=1vcz.x3kh

    ·    It took me a loooong time to finally get this prepared, and I certainly have to apologize to Judy, who sent the report "ages ago", but now I have finally gotten to insert some of her pictures and turn it into a pdf file, so everybody will be able to read it.
